Cambron Named Third District Elementary Music Teacher of the Year
South Green Elementary teacher Tambra Cambron was recently awarded the Third District Elementary Music Teacher of the Year Award at the 2012 Kentucky Music Educator's Conference. Mrs. Cambron also received a certificate for presenting a workshop to other music teachers at the KMEA conference about the "Veggie Orchestra" and how to incorporate it as a correlating activity to be used with the New Arts and Humanities Program Review. Mrs. Cambron began the Veggie Orchestra at South Green Elementary two years ago after hearing about the Vienna Veggie Orchestra. The Veggie Orchestra is offered as an enrichment class at South Green Elementary with an average of 18 students participating in each session.

Ryan Ward Named to Kentucky Jr. High All-State Chorus
Ryan Ward, 8th grade chorus student at Glasgow Middle School was recently named into the Kentucky Junior High All-State Chorus. The Kentucky Junior High Chorus (KJHC) is comprised of the Kentucky Junior High Mixed Chorus (KJHMC) and the Kentucky Junior High Treble Chorus (KJHTC). Each chorus has approximately 200 seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students who are selected by audition from the state of Kentucky. This prestigious group of musicians will performed as part of the Kentucky Music Educators Association Conference in Louisville this month.

Local Youth of the Year
Rayne Triplett has been named Boys and Girls Club Local Youth of the Year. Rayne is a freshman at Glasgow High School and has been an active member of the Boys and Girls Club for almost five years. She has demonstrated positive characteristics of a youth leader and devotes her time to volunteering at the club and in the community. Congratulations, Rayne.

Scottie Salute
The Glasgow Board of Education will hold a special called meeting on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of Glasgow Middle School located at 105 Scottie Drive, Glasgow, Ky. The purpose of this special called board meeting is to host a “Scottie Salute” recognition reception to honor selected Glasgow Independent Schools students for their outstanding accomplishments.
